Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things
Okay, you can stop singing now…….
Today was one of those perfect Sundays. It started out with family time, breakfast together and progressed into fun at the Animal Farm, lunch at one of our favourite restaurants, late afternoon drinks and something sweet at one of the hip spots in our area and ended in chilled family time at home. What more could I ask for?
While I was lounging in the late afternoon sun, chatting with my awesome wife, my daughter playing with new found friends and my son pulling my hair and ears, I realized again that there is something truly magical about a lazy sunday afternoon.
Maybe it’s the feeling of being back in your pre-adult years where there are no worries, stresses or pressure.
Maybe it’s the distinct awareness of the here and now that comes with maturity. (I call it maturity but my daughter calls it old. She always asks me how things were in the “old days”!)
Maybe it’s the blessed feeling of being able to spend the day with my lovely family enjoying life’s finest.
Maybe it’s being able to do all of this, in this lovely part of the world, where we live so close to nature and probably have some of the best weather in the world.
It’s most probably a combination of the above but nevertheless, Lazy Sunday Afternoons will always be one of my favourite things.
